In October, new licensing rules for Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMO) came into force.

This extends the definition of a HMO and introduces new standards for minimum bedroom sizes and waste disposal. Following the success of the HMO rules introduced in 2006, the new guidance aims to improve the safety and quality of a wider range of HMO properties.
