Residential Sprinkler Systems

Fire Design Solutions provides fully integrated residential sprinkler systems, engineered to offer occupants the safest possible means of escape.

In the event of a fire, residential sprinkler systems can give occupants valuable time to escape, while helping control the spread of fire within an apartment. For people living in high rise buildings or those who may otherwise struggle with mobility, they can be a life saver.

Their importance is underlined within the latest revision of Approved Document B - sprinkler systems are now a requirement on residential developments with floors 30m above ground level. The ADB provides guidance for a code compliant approach to conform with building regulations.

Fire Design Solutions provides two distinct types of residential sprinkler design - a basic system and an advanced solution.

Standard Sprinkler system

The most basic residential sprinkler system is a standard code-based bulb type, which, in the event of a fire, uses a fuseable temperature link to activate the sprinkler system and sound the fire alarm. Water is then automatically expelled to the seat of the fire and surrounding areas, suppressing it.

Advanced solution / Open Plan Apartments

Taking residential sprinkler systems to a whole new level, Fire Design Solutions has developed an ultra efficient water release system to assist means of escape. Utilising multi criteria detection systems to operate the heads, it offers far greater scope for open plan design - without compromising life safety.

Fire Design Solutions' sprinkler system is an extremely cost effective solution that satisfies the building regulations and meets the British Standard 9251:2005 for sprinklers, whilst eliminating the need for additional costly water tanks or pumps.

Fire Design Solutions is currently participating in a research and development programme in partnership with Laing O'Rourke, NHBC and London Fire Brigade.
