Capital East

Capital East is a new luxury development of waterside apartments and penthouses located at Royal Victoria Dock in East London. Nine buildings of heights varying from 9 to 18 floors provide one, two and three bedroom apartments. A three level car park extends below the buildings.

The residential buildings comprise a mix of naturally and mechanically ventilated lobbies, activated by an automatic smoke detection system. Fire Design Solutions designed and installed the venting systems and controls as well as the smoke detection system.

The underground car park includes three levels of car parking, each with an approximate floor size of 7,000m² and is ventilated by means of a thrust ventilation system which complies with 'Approved Document F (ventilation)' and 'Approved Document B (fire safety)' of the building regulations. The system was controlled environmentally by means of CO detection and in the event of fire, by means of heat detection. Fire Design Solutions (UK) designed, installed and commissioned all the systems.
